The Lady of Grandeur, My Grandmother and My Daughter

When I was young my Grandmother introduced me to ‘helicopters’ (also known as sycamore seeds). We currently have plans to build a bug hotel in our garden, and so my daughter has been collecting up all sorts of sticks, pine cones and leaves for it. The other day she brought home part of a branch from a sycamore tree; covered in leaves and seeds. I took this as the perfect opportunity to pass on to her the fun that I had with my Grandma.

I figured they would be great to include in this photo of Ena along with some of the crystals found in my Grandmother’s house after she passed last year. I love the orange colours of the seeds, and I think they contrast really nicely with the emerald green of Ena’s dress.
